The following competitions, exhibitions, and academic conferences provide opportunities to present your work externally. They range from art-oriented to academic-oriented, so choose a venue that matches the nature of your work.

SICF (Spiral Independent Creators Festival)An open-call exhibition for young creators held at Spiral in Omotesando. Covers a wide range of genres including art, design, fashion, and video. If you pass the judging, you can exhibit at Spiral
ADAA (Asia Digital Art Award)An international open-call exhibition for digital art originating from Asia. Covers interactive art, media art, video, animation, etc.
TOKAS (Tokyo Arts and Space)An art space operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Supports young artists through open-call exhibitions and residency programs. Has facilities in Hongo and Tennoz
Yamanashi Media Arts AwardAn open-call media arts exhibition hosted by Yamanashi Prefecture. Covers media art, video, games, manga, animation, etc.
Design FestaOne of Asia's largest art events, held twice a year at Tokyo Big Sight. No judging required --- anyone can exhibit. Covers all genres including painting, sculpture, installation, and performance. With only an exhibition fee to participate, it has a low barrier as a first external presentation venue
Maker FaireA celebration of making (electronics, robotics, 3D-printed works, etc.). It values DIY spirit, where the process and fun of "making it yourself" are valued over completion. Held in Tokyo (Maker Faire Tokyo) and locations worldwide

Interaction (IPSJ)The largest domestic symposium on interaction research, hosted by the Information Processing Society of Japan. Features interactive presentations (demo exhibitions + posters), allowing attendees to experience works firsthand while engaging in discussion
EC (Entertainment Computing)A symposium hosted by IPSJ's Entertainment Computing Special Interest Group. Gathers entertainment-oriented HCI research including games, VR, and interactive art
Virtual Reality Society of Japan Annual ConferenceThe annual conference of the Virtual Reality Society of Japan. Features many research presentations on VR/AR, haptics, crossmodal perception, and other body-sense-related topics. Demo exhibition opportunities are also available
